I’m a Cartographer. I also make diagrams, tables and related products. My speciality is making maps & graphics that are easy to read, pleasing to look at, and fit for purpose.
I use GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data. I also make maps from scratch or use customised bases - I’ve often found this a more focussed and efficient way to make a good thematic map. The main tools I use are CAD for drafting, and programs like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for the design and ‘finishing’. I use QGIS when manipulating GIS data from sources like Open Street Map. I also use InDesign for desktop publishing. More recently, I’ve been playing with ‘animating’ maps using software such as Adobe After Effects.
I’m from Australia and I'm based in Melbourne. I’ve also spent many years working in Europe, the UK and North America. I freelance now for clients worldwide. In the past I’ve both freelanced for, and been employed by companies on large and small projects. This site showcases some of my work from those projects.
